FPSN

What is Florida’s Public Service Network?

FPSN is a statewide network of law students committed to public service. Our work is centered on the idea that the privilege of being an attorney involves service to one’s community. This ideal however, is one that must be ingrained in law students from the very first day of law school because not every law student realizes what an importantt role they will be playing in their community.

Our mission is:

to revitalize service & connect the next generations of lawyers committed to public
service and equal access to justice in the state of Florida.

Our ultimate goal:

To strengthen Florida’s strong tradition of public service in the legal community, and
ensure that every law student graduates with a commitment to public service.

Some schools do a great job at this! While others… not so much. The distribution of this important message should not be left to law school administrators. It is in the hands of those of us who believe in the power using our legal careers to help others. The Florida Bar Foundation is doing a great job at providing funding, and making a career in the non-profit sector a reality, but unless there are people to fill those roles, that work is done in vain. That is where we come in. Through the establishment of this independent, student-run network throughout our state we will be taking matters into our own hands.

About the Director;

 My name is Nicole Tesnow and I am originally from New Smyrna Beach, Florida. I attended Oxford College of Emory University and received an associate of arts degree.  I then transferred to University of Central Florida.  After completing my bachelor’s degree, I attended Florida State University, where I earned a Masters of Science in political science.  I now attend Florida International University College of Law and am looking to pursue a meaningful career in the non-profit sector.  I am especially interested in the fund raising and grant writing.

I am very excited about growing FPSN into a strong organization and a resource for students interested in the non-profit sector. We are beginning a new phase in the organization and will be using the website to stay connected and build a resource center for students across the state of Florida. When exploring this website and public service opportunities, I urge students to think about how they can best contribute to their schools and communities.  Explore your passions and your talents.  Find something that makes you happy and satisfied.  There are many ways to help and it is important to find your niche.
