Jessica was raised in Jacksonville, Florida, graduating from Stanton College Prep in 2003. She became a Georgia Bulldog, pursuing a degree in Religion and Nutrition Science while in the Honors Program at the University of Georgia. Through involvement with non profit groups and volunteer organizations in college, Jessica realized she would be better equipped for public service with a law degree. She is currently a 3L at Florida State University College of Law. She is the Vice-President of the Student Bar Association, and a member of both the Journal of Land Use and Environmental Law, and the Journal of Transnational Law and Policy. In her free time she enjoys cooking, running, reading non law school related books, becoming an avid golfer, and playing with her cat Presley.

Nery was born in South Florida and later relocated to Tampa, Florida. She graduated from the University of South Florida in 2006 and currently attends Stetson University College of Law. While at USF and Stetson, she has been heavily involved in leadership roles and public service efforts. Currently, she volunteers with Bay Area Legal Services, Community Law Program, and Guardian ad Litem. She is also the President of the Stetson Hispanic Bar Association, Historian of Public Services Fellows, Treasurere of PAD, and Secretary of the Family Law Society. Upon gradution, she intends to practice public interest law with a focus on family, immigration, and juvenile law.

Serena Watson received a B.A. in Legal Studies with a minor in English from the University of Central Florida in May 2006. She is currently a third year law student at Barry University School of Law in Orlando, Florida. At Barry, she currently serves as the President of the Public Interest Law Society. She also serves as the Lawyer Liaison Director for the Federalist Society and is a current member of the Women Lawyers Association. She is a recipient of the Spring 2009 Barry’s Achievement in Civic Excellence Fellowship Program and will also be serving as a 2009 summer fellow for the Florida Bar Foundation doing public interest work.

Christina has served on the Student Bar Association all three years of law school. As a 1L Senator I served as Chairman of the SBA Fundraising Committee and am currently serving as the Chairman of the SBA Community Service Committee. During the 2007-2008 school year I was President of the Student Bar Association. I am also on the executive board of both the Women’s Lawyers Association and Delta Theta Phi Law Fraternity. I am also currnetly serving as the ABA LSD 5th Circuit Lt. Governor of Membership and on the Fl. Bar Association Young Lawyers Division Student Board of Governors.

Camila is third year student at the University of Florida Levin College of Law. She was born and raised in Colombia, Bogota and moved to the United States in 2001. Camila has a bachelor of arts in Political Science – International Studies, with a minor in Latin American Studies.
At UF, Camila serves as the editor at large for the Florida Journal of International Law and as an executive board member of the Association of Public Interest Law. She is passionate about public interest law and would like to go into this field after graduation. She is particularly interested in immigration, family, and international law. Last summer Camila worked at Gulfcoast Legal Services in their immigration law unit. At Gulfcoast, she had the opportunity to work directly with the low-income immigrant community in need of legal services. This summer, Camila is working at Bay Area Legal Services in Tampa. At Bay Area, Camila is participating in their different public interest programs including Family Law Forms Clinic, Intake and Judge Don Castor Community Law Center.

Andrea Stone received a B.A. in Music and Italian from Florida State University. She is currently a third year law student at Florida International University in Miami, her hometown. She is involved with the Student Bar Association Community Outreach Committee, FIU’s chapter of FPSN, and the Women’s Law Society. Andrea is currently volunteering with Friends of the Everglades and Animal Rights Foundation of Florida, and is involved with the Coral Gables chapter of Rotaract. After graduation she intends to practice in the field of animal law. In her free time she enjoys playing the piano, cooking, running, and spending time with her dogs Zoe and Lila.

During the summer of 2008, as a HOPE Fellow, Evian worked with Legal Services of Greater Miami, Inc.’s Homeless Legal Assistance Project to mitigate the problems this disenfranchised group faces on a daily basis. Her linguistic talents in Spanish and Portuguese allowed her to communicate and learn from the population she aimed to serve.
After completing her second-year at UM Law, Senior HOPE Fellow Evian White will work during the summer of 2009 at the Florida Immigrant Advocacy Center (FIAC) as a Florida Bar Foundation Fellow. Evian is excited to have the opportunity to work with FIAC either on a project involving undocumented women in detention facing deportation when they have citizen children here in the U.S. “I am thrilled to continue working in the public interest sector,” says Evian,” and I can’t wait to bring what I’ve learned and experienced back to the UM campus.” Evian will continue her leadership as a Senior HOPE Fellow in the 2009-2010 academic year. Evian explains that, “my passion for public interest spans a whole spectrum of opportunities – the hardest part is narrowing down the list of issues on which to focus.”

Ms.Valeta Cameron is a third-year law student at Florida A&M University College of Law in Orlando, Florida. Ms.Cameron is originally from Palm Bay, Florida. Prior to law school, she received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Public Relations & Journalism from Flagler College in St. Augustine, Florida. She is currently the community service chair of the FAMU Black Law Students Association and Women’s Law Caucus. As chair of these committees, she has created, planned, and implemented several community service projects aimed at improving the Orlando community. She is also serving as a certified legal intern at FAMU handling housing issues and needs. Ms. Cameron is committed to working in the public sector upon her graduation from law school in May 2009. Community outreach is important to her, and she eventually wants pursue projects that educate the community about the law, and fund vario! us support programs that meet the public need.
FAMU Chapter of the FPSN received the opportunity to attend the 2009 WIPI Conference February 27-29 at the University of Georgia School of Law in Athens. The conference, “Working in Public Interest: Advancing Social Justice,” consisted of panel and roundtable discussions surrounding the issues facing public interest law. It was a great opportunity for law students, advocates, judges, and community leaders to come together to find solutions to pressing issues and find ways to advance social change

I am a student at Florida Coastal which is already on the list, but I would still be interested in helping in any way I can. I will also be the Director of Student Services for FCSL’s Pro Bono Society for the 2008-2009 school year, so let me know if there is anything I can do through that position as well.
